Audio Description Solutions
Audio Description is a service for persons who are blind or low vision which allows them to access the visual experience of live performances and events, exhibits, and/or film, either through live narration or a handheld device.
Our mission is to provide cultural access to people who are blind or low vision.
Audio Description Solutions accomplishes this by offering professional live or recorded description of the visual aspects of performances, film, visual arts, exhibits, and cultural events. We are dedicated to continuing this tradition through the training of professional audio describers.
Audio Description Services
Audio Description Solutions (ADS) provides audio description services for a wide variety of cultural events and organizations including: museums, theatres, aquariums, zoos, film, National Park visitor centers, and historic sites.
Audio Description Training
Audio Description Solutions’ services also include consulting and training for arts and cultural entities, enabling them to establish an audio description program in their institution or region. These services can include: working with staff to design a program specific to their organization, training new describers, evaluating existing describers, advising on accessible performance marketing, and community engagement.
Audio description of movies, TV, live theater, educational materials, art and other museum exhibits makes them accessible to the blind and enhances these experiences for everyone. In order to be effective, they have to be done correctly, and our relationship with Audio Description Solutions provides us with the expertise that complements our lived experience.
