Audio Description Services (ADS) offers interactive, on-site training workshops for participants who are current describers and those interested in learning audio description. Based on the application of critical skills found in the Audio Description Standards, these workshops are tailored to the needs of each client and their intended audience.

Recommended: minimum 2 consecutive training days.

Through interactive, participatory exercises, lectures, and demonstrations in a shared setting, participants will learn how to utilize critical skills found in the Audio Description Standards focusing on the setting your audience and/or visitors will experience. Whether it is preparing docents, educators, volunteers, or staff to deliver live audio description for visitors who are blind or low vision, or training writers for the delivery method your visitors will experience.

Following initial training, ADS staff can be available for additional mentoring, coaching, and program evaluation.

"We contacted Deb and asked her to customize a two day training session for Lincoln Park Zoo. She was very easy to work with and followed up promptly when we had questions. There was a wide cross section of skills, experience and job responsibilities represented in the class; we even had interested participants from outside the zoo attend. The result was a dozen motivated Audio Describers from three iconic Chicago cultural institutions who are ready to meet the needs of a wider audience."
